Today's Passage: Acts 4
Peter and John were just two ordinary guys. They had no special training, no special standing, no high place in society. They were just normal guys in that day. Yet, because they had walked with Jesus, people knew they were different. People listened to them speak, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, were saved. When they were arrested, their captors knew that something was different about them. Peter and John ended up being let go and as they left they continued to spread the good news of Jesus. They just couldn't keep quiet! They had walked with Jesus and knew that this news needed to be shared. Consequently, God was adding such large numbers of people to their Christian community.
I wonder if the same could be said about us today? Are we walking with Jesus so often and closely enough that we cannot help but to talk about it in all we do? I know we cannot physically walk with Jesus like Peter and John did, but we have the ability to commune with him daily. As I was reading this chapter I was struck by the difference that spending time with Jesus makes in the life of people. I desire that people see something different in me. I pray that as I continue to grow in my faith, I will learn how to walk with Jesus more closely day by day and that also people will see that difference. I pray that you have the same desire, too.
